notable achievements: Here are some pretty amazing achievements by Ozarks runners.... 

  • OMRR member Ron Anderson recently logged some 49,800 miles of running (since June, 1980), enough for twice around the world. Way to go, Ron!

  • Frances Tuck, 88 years young, set a new state single age record at the Turkey Trot 5K. Congratulations, Frances!

  • OMRR member Maranda Geren qualified for her first Boston Marathon at the Philadelphia Marathon on 11/19/11. Way to go, Maranda!

  • There were new state records set at the Little Blue Trace 50K/50 Mile on 10/30/11. OMRR member Mike Baxter set a state record in the 50K and OMRR member Emm Foster set a state record in the 50 Mile. Congratulations ultrarunners!

ELECTION OF OMRR OFFICERS AND AT-LARGE BOARD MEMBERS:  The election of OMRR officers and at-large board members will be held at our annual meeting and banquet on 1/21/12, 6 pm, St. John's Cancer Center, 2055 S. Fremont, Springfield, MO. (second floor). Also, there will be a vote on two changes to OMRR constitution, which I believe were published in our last newsletter.

NEW RULE FOR 2012 ROTY: In 2012, ROTY teams will consist of four OMRR members instead of three. The team must complete the same 12 races: one marathon or longer, one 'long distance' (half marathon to marathon), three 'medium distance' (8K to half marathon), and seven 'short distance' (1 mile to 8K). Each team member must contribute three of the 12 races. This will allow for greater participation and married couples can also form teams. The best age-graded team wins $25 gift cards and two qualifying teams win $25 gift cards at random. Go to the ROTY page to join OMRR (if you're not already a member) and sign up for ROTY (the ROTY fee is $15 per person until Feb 1).

NEW OMRR TRAINING PROGRAM! We just finished our training for the Bass Pro events and now we're starting a new training program for the Little Rock Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K (3/4/12). We have generated training plans and have our own technical training shirts (see graphic below). The cost of the shirt is about $10 Group runs will be Tue (5am or 6am, Panera on S. National), Thu (5am or 6am, south YMCA), and Sat (6am or 7am, Panera on S. National). Join our OMRR  Facebook group for updates: www.facebook.com/groups/101953473253690/. The Nixa Running Group is also training for Little Rock and is maintaining their usual training schedule in Nixa.
