Important Announcements
Send announcements to RichardJohnson@MissouriState.edu

  • new sponsors for the frisco fifty: Thanks to Wellness Concepts Clinic, LLC and Polk County Health Center (Bolivar) for making generous donations to the Frisco Fifty event on 4/17/10. All cash donations will be forwarded to Ozark Greenways. Sponsors get their logos on this web site, the entry form, and on the T-shirt. You can donate online or mail donations (payable to OMRR) to Richard Johnson, 724 S. Weller Ave., Springfield, MO, 65802. Thanks!

  • pr corner:  Below are some recent PRs (personal records) set by Ozarks area runners. These are listed in two categories: (1) actual-time PRs and (2) WAVA PRs (compare your recent times to your old PRs using the WAVA calculator to see if you have a WAVA PR--read more about WAVA). If you achieve a PR (actual or WAVA), email Richard Johnson ASAP with the exact information shown below. Each month, we will have a drawing for one $25 gift certificate for every ten PR performances for that month (we are glad to list any Ozarks runner's PR, but you must be a current OMRR member to win the gift certificate). Note that the first time you run a race of a given distance, that is also a PR. Let us know about it! Great job, people!

    March 2010, Actual-Time PRs:

  • Lynda Clark*, Livestrong 5K, Springfield, MO, 3/20/10, 35:06

  • Owen Fabro*, Strafford Relay for Life 5K, Strafford, MO, 2/27/10, 23:31

We had only 3 PRs set in February, so OMRR is giving away one $25 gift certificate at random. The $25 gift certificate winner (for Ridge Runner Sports, The Starting Block, Quiznos Subs, Panera Bread, or Help Me Swim/Bike/Run) for a PR during February is (drum roll) Shannon Cochran!  Please contact Richard Johnson and make your choice known (and include your current mailing address).

  • runner of the year update: After two months of the 2010 OMRR ROTY program, the overall leaders are Richard Leiboult and Emm Foster. Dave Walker and Marilyn Grier are leading the Seniors category. Ryan Way and Claire Lakin are in front of the Youth group. Ella Fabro and CJ Lakin lead the Kids. Mike Baxter and Laura Fabro are ahead in the Marathon, Ron Anderson and Jackie Chen in the Medium Distance, Carl Lund and Helen Walker in the Short Distance, Richard Leiboult and Lea Baxter in the Energized Runner (most racing miles) category), and Ryan Slight and Marilyn Grier lead the Raciest Runner (most races) group. Now is a great time to sign up for the 2010 ROTY program! As soon as you sign up, you can count your races for the past 30 days. (OMRR membership required)

  • join the roty program now! We have 90 individuals and 6 teams signed up for the 2010 Runner of the Year program, but we want 100 individuals and 10 teams (you can compete as an individual and be on a team at the same time--no extra charge)! The number of races required to qualify has been lowered from previous years! You can join any time and count your races for the prior 30 days! Here's how it works:

    • OMRR annual membership dues...$20

    • ROTY registration fee...$20

    • Participate as an individual, or you can also form a three-person team (no extra charge)--email your team info to Richard Johnson ...$0

    • Technical T-shirt, trophies, cash awards, gift cards, convenient tracking of all your races, motivation to get out there and run, and competing against yourself and your running friends all year long...PRICELESS!

  • running groups: Send your running group information to RichardJohnson@MissouriState.edu:
  • updated membership list! Take a look at the updated membership list to see who's who in Ozarks running and to see when your membership expires.
